Since 1998, Matthew Brosious has been the CEO and President of FreightCenter, a full-service freight logistics company whose primary focus is developing web-based applications to assist businesses and individuals with their freight shipping needs. That’s why it was only fitting that he recently appeared on The Entrepreneur’s Radio Show, a platform that allows for conversations with successful entrepreneurs that will help grow your business.
In the show, Brosious uses his first-hand entrepreneurship skills and experiences to discuss how FreightCenter came to be eighteen years ago. He credits his military background for the discipline it instilled in him, which he says is what pushed him to strive for such greatness when it comes to FreightCenter. Brosious talked about the business being a reflection of him and everything he stands for, which is why it’s so important to him that he’s involved in every aspect, keeping a hands-on approach at all times.
When asked what advice he would share with fellow entrepreneurs Brosious said, “Just keep at it. It takes hard work and long hours, which means you’re doing it right. If you want to create something lasting, you have to give it everything you’ve got, and then some. And don’t be afraid to try new things, it keeps you relevant and generates a buzz. It’s fun and exciting and by default, people will be drawn to that mood and quality. I think when there’s risk involved there’s always an element of fear, it’s understandable, but you can’t let that fear stop you. I firmly believe that when done right, you will always benefit from trying something new in your business. Oh, and always keep an open ear. Whether it be customers or employees, you’ve got to listen to them and their feedback. They’re the ones on the frontline so their input is really valuable and must always be considered. You won’t ever get better criticism than from your frontline. And that’s another thing, you need to be open to criticism. It’s definitely hard for me to not take it personal at times but I always try to look at it objectively and use the feedback as fuel to improve what needs to be improved on.”
The Entrepreneur’s Radio Show asked Brosious what he sees in store for FreightCenter’s future, “Well, of course, we’re always trying to grow. Building our customer base allows us to take on more employees and grow our staff, it’s all connected. But even more than just physical growth, we’re working hard on our company culture and making this the most prosperous environment for everyone. We also are churning out a ton of both internal and external software development so I’m eager to see the growth in that department within the next few months too. Really, we’re growing in every aspect, I don’t ever try to limit us to just one segment of growth.” Says Brosious.
FreightCenter is built and based on all these components that Brosious says are integral components in creating the atmosphere of his company.
